The short version

GameDay Scoreboard has no accounts and never texts anyone. We count visits and matches with Google Analytics, without match links, names or scores. A match's live page can be seen by anyone who has its link, so share it with the people you'd show the score to.

No accounts

You don't sign up, and we don't ask for your name, email address or phone number.

What a match stores

When you set up a match, our server keeps what its live page needs: the team names and colours, the format, each point as you score it, and when it arrived. Your phone keeps its own copy of your matches. Team names are shown to everyone with the link, so use the team's name, not a player's.

Who can see a match

Each match gets a random link. Anyone who has the link can open the live page. The link isn't listed anywhere, and live pages ask search engines not to show them.

Who can change the score

Only the scorer. Scoring needs a private scorer link that stays on the scorer's phone, and viewers can only watch. Anyone you send your scorer link to can change the score, so keep it to yourself.

We never text anyone

The link goes out from your own phone, through its share sheet, to the people you pick. We never see your contacts or your messages.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics on this site and on gamedayscore.live to learn how the product is used: how many matches are scored and finished, how many people watch, and which screens they use. It sets cookies so it can tell a new visitor from a returning one.

What we send: the name of the screen (like “Scoring” or “Live page”, never its web address), the sport, whether a match hasn't started, is live or is final, whether you're scoring or watching, the set number when a set ends, whether a live link or a final score was shared, a match code that can't be turned back into the match's link, and the name of the website that sent you, if any. Google Analytics uses your device's internet address to work out a rough location and doesn't store the address.

What we never send: match links, scorer links, team or player names, scores, or anything you type.

Google signals and ad personalisation are off, so none of this is used for ads, and we've set Google to keep detailed data for two months, the shortest it allows. There are no ads and no other tracking on either site.

To opt out, block Google Analytics with your browser's content blocker, or on a computer use Google's opt-out add-on. Scoring and the live page work the same with analytics blocked.

Our host

Both sites run on Cloudflare. As with any website, your device's internet address is used to deliver the pages. The app also uses it to limit how many matches one network can create per minute. Cloudflare keeps short-lived request logs that we use only to fix problems.

How long a match stays up

We delete a match from our server 30 days after the scorer last changed it: setting it up, scoring, undoing, catching up, or moving scoring to another phone. Opening or watching the live page doesn't count. After that, its link shows “This event isn't available.” The copy on the scorer's phone isn't affected.

Changes

When what the product does changes, we update this page and the date at the top.
